'Wearing the Red Shoes’- How to work with Trauma Creatively
Anna has been working with myth, storytelling and art in crisis settings for over six years. The aim of the seminar is to give therapists an interactive experience of ways in which trauma can be tackled creatively.
The day will explore how art, movement, writing and voice can weave together both collective and personal narratives. It explores how fairy tales become a safe vessel for traumatic content without the risk of re-traumatisation. The day will be rich with creative inspiration, tools and reflection with the hope that therapists can approach this difficult subject matter with a sense of curiosity and playfulness.
Often working with trauma and shame, especially in group settings, can feel heavy and clients with a significant traumatic history may have forgotten how to play and express themselves through creative means. The journey between client and therapist can be one of both mystery and enchantment and this seminar seeks to overcome some of the challenges our work brings and allow a space of re-imagination in how we might follow the rich red threads of story with a whole mixture of client groups.
