St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care, both within the hospice and in the comfort of patients’ homes, to people with advanced progressive life-limiting illnesses. The charity provides counselling to patients, relatives and friends of patients who receive care through St Barnabas House hospice, via the Family Services team.
SAGE Counselling offers a home visiting counselling service to adults of all ages who have difficulties using conventional counselling due to mobility issues. Visits could be in the home, a hospital, a residential or nursing home. Student applicants are asked to submit 250-500 words as to why they would want a placement with us. We want to ensure applicants have considered carefully about working with this client group. Counsellors are expected to have a caseload of at least three clients. You will generally be offered clients within your local area to help minimise fuel costs. SAGE Counselling does not pay travel expenses to student counsellors. Applicants should be car drivers with a clean license. Please submit two completed references, one each from college and workplace. SAGE Counselling offers a wealth of experience and support to its volunteers. If you are successful at interview you will have an induction and then be allocated clients as they become available. Fortnightly group supervision is provided and run in accordance with BACP guidelines. There are currently supervision groups in Chichester and Storrington. Because our clients are considered vulnerable adults, a DBS check is required. SAGE Counselling will pay for this unless you already have a suitable certificate. Horsham and Crawley Counselling Group are a Community Interest Company whose social mission is to provide affordable counselling to the residents of Horsham, Crawley and the surrounding areas.

We work both long and short term. We student counsellors clinical placements usually twice a year in the Spring and Autumn. Ideally you should be in your second year of training with some counselling experience. Check our website for when recruitment opens.

Opportunity to experience working in an NHS mental health setting, build clinical hours towards counselling qualification or accreditation, gain experience of working within a time limited integrative counselling approach. Applicants must be enrolled on or have completed a post graduate counselling or counselling psychology training course compromising a minimum of 450 hrs programme and including a minimum 100hrs supervised practice.
